The primary purpose of this web site is to provide students and friends access to my notes and current thinking on various liturgical and sacramental issues.  Recent additions and revisions of this site are listed under Recent Postings.  Replies to questions I have been asked by E-mail are posted under Replies to Questions.

The Purpose and Intent of this Website

This website exists primarily to assist my Franciscan brothers and former students in their pastoral, liturgical, and sacramental ministry. 

I intend the material on this website to be read by persons who have had theological training.  I realize that not all readers may be "ready" for this information.  Be advised that I am writing these pages primarily for those who have sufficient background not to be harmed by them.

While I am a member of St. John the Baptist Province of the Order of Friar’s Minor and a professor at Saint Meinrad’s School of Theology, neither of these organizations has any connection with this website nor do they in any way have any supervision of, or responsibility for, the materials posted here.

I am currently employed by Saint Meinrad Archabbey as professor of Liturgy and Sacramental Theology in their School of Theology. For security reasons, Saint Meinrad’s requires their teachers to place all course related materials on their website. Consequently, I have placed all materials which relate specifically to courses that I teach at Saint Meinrad (student assignments, student responses, grades, communications etc. on ANGEL at  http://mysma.saintmeinrad.edu/mySMA/home.asp   Some pages are password protected and are available only to students who have registered for the course.

Many of these thoughts have been germinating in my head for many years. Some of this material I have taken from my lecture notes for courses given 1976-1981 at Saint Leonard College, Dayton Ohio. In those days, we were not as aware of copyright and accuracy of citation as we are today.  Since beginning this website in November, 2000, every effort has been made to acknowledge sources.  Any failure to comply with the United States Copyright Act (Title 17, United States Code) will be corrected immediately should I become aware of it.  If you find any place where I have cited something someone else has published without acknowledging their authorship, please bring this to my attention by clicking on the address below and I will correct it immediately.
