Ordo Exsequiarum (1969) – Order/Rite of Funerals (1969/1970). Three models – emphasis on principal action in 1) church, 2) cemetery, and 3) home. Funeral as celebration of paschal mystery of Christ.
The Fathers of Vatican II directed that the funeral rites express more clearly the paschal nature of Christian death. Following a period of trial use, in 1969 the Ordo Exsequiarum was written and an English version adopted in 1970.

Changes to pastoral not scholastic terms. Change in focus from rubrics to grief process. Christian funeral as a celebration of Paschal Mystery and profession of faith in resurrection.
